Maddox Update

The nurse came by today to check Maddox's jaundice levels, and they have gone down to 12! That is really good. He let me take Maddox off the bili lights! Woohoo!! He will be checked again tomorrow, and hopefully it will be down some more and we'll be off JAUNDICE RADAR. I'm relived its going down and all is well. His 2 week check up is Wednesday. Hard to believe it's already time for that appointment! Time flies. Dr. K still hears the heart murmur, but the cardiologist at the hospital said it should heal within the first year of life. So, it may be awhile before that totally goes away. (Not sure if I've posted - he has a small hole in a ventricle artery - but it's very minor - no side effects or symptoms associated with it and should heal with no problem. We have a follow up visit with the cardiologist when Maddox is 2 months old.) I took a picture this morning of Jada cuddling by Maddox. It was too cute. She is so good with him! When he cries, she'll sneak up to him and sniff him and try to lick his feet or his head. It's so funny. She's like "Why are you making that funny noise?" I think she has realized he isn't going anywhere. She'll just come and lay by us. It's sweet. I'll keep everyone updated on Maddox's progress, and of course, I'll keep pictures posted. Love you all!

Maddox: 1 Week and 1 Day Old (VIDEO)

It was requested that we get a video with no hat. So here it is! He was so cute tonight.

Maddox: Week 2 Pictures (so far)

We have had him on bili lights; so most of these pictures he is unclothed. I'm not a bad mommy - we just kept the lights right on his skin and had a shirt OVER the lights. So when the lights came off - the shirt did too. hehe...

Maddox the Glow Worm

We went to the doctor today to check Maddox's jaundice levels, and they are a little high. So, Dr. K has us keeping the little guy under billi lights for a couple of days. We have some nurses coming over a couple of times tomorrow to check the levels, and hopefully he'll be off this thing soon! We have to supplement with formula for awhile, which mommy isn't too happy about, but we want to do what's best for little Maddox. I've posted a couple of pictures of our little glow worm. We'll keep everyone updated, as always!

Maddox Lee Mayall

Maddox was born August 19, 2008 at 2:40 PM. He weighed 5 lb 13 oz and 19 inches long. Here is a great picture my dad took of him in his Memphis Tigers hat that Mimi bought him. I love this picture.

August 19th Birthday

Today, I saw Dr. Martin for the last time before baby Maddox is here! The plan is still on for an induction tomorrow morning. The ultrasounds have consistently showed baby looks really great; so all should go well tomorrow. I expect he will be here by lunch (or I pray so!) It's pretty crazy that this is the last blog I am posting pre-parenthood. It's like today wraps up Volume I of the novel that is my life, and tomorrow begins Volume II. I know life will be very different from now on. I don't think it's really hit home yet what tomorrow will bring. There are these little clothes and cribs and toys around the house, but until I see the little guy - I don't think I fully understand what it is to be a MOM. I'm excited, anxious and nervous. I just hope he's healthy and all goes smoothly tomorrow. Everything else - we'll just take one day at a time. :-) Pictures will come soon....

36 Weeks: Thursday Doctor's Appointment

I had my next to last doctor's appointment today. My blood pressure was GREAT (yay!!) and the ultrasound they did on the baby is looking wonderful. Everything is good and in place and ticking like it should be. We're still on for Tuesday morning induction. I am dilated to 4cm; so the doctor isn't positive I'll make it to Tuesday, but we're hoping I at least wait until 37 weeks (which is Sunday). I've been having LOTS of contractions, but they're not consistent yet. They are getting stronger, and I have lots of pelvic pressure, but until either my water breaks or the contractions get to be 5 minutes a part - we're home. It's just a waiting game now. Either way, we'll have a baby by Tuesday. I have one more appointment on Monday afternoon. I'll, of course, keep you all updated.

36 Weeks: Monday Doctor's Appointment

I saw the doctor Monday. She wanted to do an ultrasound that tests the baby's vitals. The ultrasound tech listened to the baby's heart beat, looked at heart chambers, stomach, kidneys, etc. and looked at blood flow through the umbillical cord and baby passed with flying colors. She said he got a 100% (his first A!!). I was really relieved to know despite all the issues I've had these last several weeks, baby Maddox is doing just fine. He's a little baby, but it looks like that's just because his mommy and daddy are small and not due to any health issues. I am now dilated to 3cm - still 50% effaced. My blood pressure still gets high here and there; so I'm still on bed rest and still scheduled for induction on August 19th. I have another doctor's appointment on Thursday. I'll keep everyone posted.

More Pictures from Vacation in Gulf Shores

I finally got pictures from my dad. There are some from our view of the beach from our condo. Pictures of Don, Heather, Patrick and Clint (our cousin) riding the sky coaster; pictures of Heather trying to feel Maddox move and talking to him (she's such a nut!) and pictures of the family on the beach. It was a great time.

35 1/2 Weeks: Doctor's Appointment

I had a doctor's appointment today. They checked my cervix for the first time, and I am dilated to 2 and 50% effaced. My blood pressure is still high (above 140/90); so my doctor has decided to induce labor at 37 weeks. The date set right now is August 19th. I have 2 appointments next week, with ultrasounds, to keep an eye on the baby's weight. He was 5 lbs 3 oz today, which is small for his gestational age. He's in the 16th percentile. My doctor said it may be that he is going to be a small baby since I am small, but she wants to make sure he keeps growing steadily. Sometimes, in cases with high blood pressure, the baby doesn't get what he/she needs from the placenta. As long as he keeps growing, we're okay. He's going to be here before we know it!!

Vacation in Gulf Shores, AL

Against my doctor's advice and my better judgment, I decided to accompany my family on vacation to Gulf Shores this past weekend. I know - I'm crazy. My logic was - I can lay around my house watching t.v. all weekend or lay around in a condo with a beach view! I chose the change in scenery. I did sleep A LOT and didn't get to participate in a lot of the activities my family did, but I still enjoyed myself very much and had a nice, relaxing time. We ate some good food, made sand castles by the beach, and just enjoyed "family time". I'm posting the few pictures I took before my camera died, but I will get more from my dad and update soon. The LAST vacation for Don and me as "a couple" - next time, we'll have little Maddox!

General Update

I haven't updated my blog in awhile; so I thought I'd just give everyone a quick update. I'm at home. I haven't been feeling well - so I just lay around a lot (which is what the doctor ordered anyway). I get bored, but as soon as I get up and try to do something - I go downhill really fast. It's hard for me to just do nothing. I did fold laundry last night! Speaking of folding laundry, I have some cute pictures of Jada who made a temporary bed on a stack of towels. It was too cute. I'll have some pictures posted of Gulf Shores soon. Enjoy the Jada update!
