Playtime with Maddox: Sitting up and all!

Maddox is sitting up so well by himself. I caught for a couple of minutes on camera tonight. I also took another one with him playing on his back. The squealing you hear is his new favorite noise. It's cute - for awhile. :-)

Maddox is sitting up!

Maddox is starting to sit up all by himself!! He doesn't stay up for long - 5 minutes is his max time so far. But, it's awfully cute!!

Update on Bronchiolitis: We went to the doctor Friday, and he was very pleased with Maddox's progress. We still hear some wheezing, but he is a happy boy. His appetite is back and last night he only woke up once, which is a huge improvement. Before now, he didn't sleep more than a 2 hour stretch! He is finally starting to feel better.

Also, below are some pictures of Maddox and a hot wing. I had just finished feeding him his squash, and it looked the same as Daddy's face, who was eating hot wings. So, he thought it would be funny to hold a hot wing up and make people thing he was eating those. It's pretty hilarious!

Maddox: Bronchiolitis Diagnosis

So, Maddox had - what we thought was - a bad cold, since Sunday night. Tuesday evening we started to notice that he was having trouble breathing. So, Wednesday Mimi decided Maddox needed to go to the doctor. It turned out that he didn't have a common cold, but he has bronchiolitis! My first question to the doctor was, "What is the difference between bronchitis and bronchiolitis?"

Bronchitis is an acute inflammation of the air passages within the lungs. It occurs when the trachea (windpipe) and the large and small bronchi (airways) within the lungs become inflamed because of infection or other causes. Infants usually get bronchiolitis, which involves the smaller airways and causes symptoms similar to asthma. Bronchiolitis: Inflammation of the bronchioles, the airways that extend beyond the bronchi and terminate in the alveoli. Bronchiolitis is largely a disease of infancy. It starts as a mild upper respiratory infection and then worsens. There is increasing respiratory distress and wheezing.

So, the doctor prescribed Albuterol (liquid form) to Maddox to take 3 times a day for 4-5 days. He hasn't been running a temp any higher than 100. His cough has gotten a lot better already. His nose is still a little runny (and he HATES the suction thing). He is very pitiful. Seems to want Mommy all the time. He slept better last night than he has all week, but he's still waking up frequently. I can tell he is feeling a lot better today. He is playing more, and his appetite seems to be coming back a bit. Before today, he was only drinking formula and not interested in much else. I think the most concerning thing to me is that 1/2 of all babies who get bronchiolitis struggle with asthma later. Let's hope he's in the other 1/2 that never have to worry about that!! I'll keep everyone posted.

Here are a few pictures we took this evening. You can tell in his eyes he is just not feeling well. He is a trooper, though. Keep him in your prayers!

Maddox's First Teeth

Maddox has cut his first 2 teeth! He is so cute, showing them off more and more often.
He's getting so big - almost sitting up by himself, which means crawling is right around the corner! He has realized he can control his hands, and it's been neat watching him grab things intentionally and pull them to his mouth (of course!) He was playing with his little stuffed tigger today and grabbed the tag on it and started playing with it. So random, but shows you he is focusing on what he is reaching for. Very neat to watch him develop coordination. Here are a few pictures of him showing off his new teeth!

Maddox & Aunt Heather: 5 Months

Aunt Heather was in town visiting, and Maddox had a lot of fun playing with her. He is sad he doesn't get to see her more often! Can't wait until May when she'll be back home (hopefully)!

Hangin Out at Miles' Birthday

Maddox went to his buddy, Miles, first birthday party last Sunday. They are two of the cutest dudes around.
