Celebrating Baby Kinley: Family Baby Shower

My Aunt Vickie hosted a wonderful baby shower celebrating baby Kinley this weekend. The shower was in Rogers, Arkansas at her gorgeous home. Most of the ladies in our immediately family (my side of the family) were there, and it was a great time of socialization and fun girly stuff!!

One of the most hilarious moments was a game my Aunt Vickie and her daughters (Kayla and Courtney) coordinated that involved 6 diapers with melted chocolate - and you had to smell and examine the chocolate to guess what kind of candy bar was used. It was sooo funny!!

I appreciate all the hard work that went in to making that day special. I can't wait until our little girl gets here so I can use all of this great stuff!!

(Funny story about burp cloths too - my friend Kayla, had her baby shower the same day. Kayla came to mine first and I opened the gift with the burp cloths. The EXACT burp cloths that I bought for her for baby Kenna's shower! Great minds think alike. Hehe!!)

Last, but certainly not least, I wanted to show off the blanket and diaper bag my Aunt Annita hand-made for Kinley. It's GORGEOUS!!!

She outdid herself and was probably my favorite gift of the day!

Thanks again to everyone for coming to the baby shower and sharing in this exciting time. We can't wait to meet Kinley!!

It's a Boy's Right of Passage

I think it's every boy's duty to, at some point in his childhood, bring his mommy a frog. Maddox decided that weekend was this past weekend (April 10th to be exact). He has no fear!

He found a little friend...

He pet it, and hugged it, and called it his own... Here...you hold him!
Fine...I'll keep him.

3D/4D Ultrasound: Kinley Elizabeth

The date on the ultrasound machine was incorrect (and time). My appointment was actually on 4/7/10 at 3:00PM. Other than that, Kinley is beautiful and seems to look a lot like Maddox!
We had a fun experience at First Impressions and can't wait to meet the little girl in person!! Maddox can say "sister" now - it's really cute.

Happy Easter

Maddox enjoyed his first egg hunt! I'll have a video uploaded soon. He was so cute when he'd spot an egg on the ground (I "hid" them in very obvious places). His eyes would light up and he'd smile really big. Then, he would run to get the egg. Mommy held the basket most of the time. Maddox would find the eggs and bring them to me. He's the only child/grandchild at the moment; so no real competition. I would say this was good practice for the future! :)

Papaw likes to take pictures by the pond. A way to show off 2 of his pride and joys: his pond and his grandson. Hehe!

Hard to believe next Easter he'll have a little sister here to celebrate with! She'll be getting really close to 1 year old at Easter time next year too. (That will make for some really cute pictures by the pond, Pawpaw). Ha!

No Joke on April's Fools Day

Maddox got his first splinter yesterday (April 1st). The picture below is actually after we were able to remove some of it. It was pretty long, but luckily not that deep. I think it was pretty sore too, because Maddox did not want anyone to touch it; although he wanted to show you his "owie"

After we tried to work on it for awhile last night, Mommy decided this was not a task to be handled by a newer parent with no help! So, we decided to sleep on it and let Mamaw and Papaw help in the morning. It actually probably wasn't the best idea in the long run, because today it was pretty red and seemed even more tender. I learned it's better to just buckle down and get it out quickly in the beginning! He was obviously happy that I gave up!! (He is saying "cheeese" for the camera)This picture is him showing his band-aid to the camera. Papaw was able to successfully remove the last part of the spliter that I was not able to get out. Maddox was really upset and cried pretty hard while we were working on it, but he immediately stopped crying when we were finished; so I think it may have been more the "holding him down" part than the actual splinter removal that he didn't like.

We gave him some Easter skittles as a treat for being such a trooper! He's all better now and walking normally on that foot again (he was tip toe-ing around this morning)
